A less unequal world is necessary for the life of both the planet and the people inhabiting it. We operate in different regions across Brazil that face real challenges such as extreme poverty and low quality education.
That's why we work with organizations and families in these regions to implement actions designed to generate income, thereby fostering sustainable local businesses that have always been part of the culture of each region. Our goal is to help lift 200,000 people out of poverty across the regions where we operate, by 2030.
We believe that education is the starting point for any transformation. A less unequal planet starts with all children having access to quality education.
To benefit future generations, we collaborate with partners to develop solutions that ensure quality public education. We are committed to improving the Basic Education Development Index (IDEB) by 40% in our priority towns by 2030.
Everyone has unique characteristics and the sum of all these makes us plural. We believe that diversity, equality and inclusion make us stronger, and it is this certainty that drives us to set specific goals for our people, including:
to guarantee 100% accessibility and a 100% inclusive environment for people with disabilities at our mills and offices; to achieve the target of having 30% women and 30% Afrodescendant employees in leadership (functional managers and above) positions; and to ensure a 100% inclusive environment for LGBTQIAP+.
We pledge to achieve this by 2030.
